AUTISM/ASPERGER'S SYNDROME

Autism and Asperger’s syndrome (AS) are autism spectrum disorders. Affected children have difficulty understanding and interacting with other people, problems with communication, and unusual behaviour. Symptom severity varies widely. AS, a complex syndrome but at the milder end of the spectrum, is the autistic disorder most often seen in clinical practice. Careful management can do much to improve quality of life.
